Creative Media Sector - Session 2 - Film/TV Companies

As explained in the last post, in this unit you will be building a kind of guide to the media industries - companies, jobs and professional practice - which we will tick off one by one. We started last week by looking at the GAMES INDUSTRY. If you've completed this you need to move on to the FILM INDUSTRY. Complete this second part by following these steps.

1. Open up a new heading in the blogpost you started last week where you told me about a couple of Games Companies. make the heading - CREATIVE MEDIA SECTOR - THE FILM & TV INDUSTRY'.

2. Put in the sub-heading 'Multinational Company'.

Then choose a MULTI-NATIONAL film/tv company. This can't be a small independent film company - has to be one of the big-boys so choose something like Paramount, Fox, Marvel, Warners, Universal, Netflix, Amazon Prime or the BBC. Get the logo of the company under your heading,.

3. Using your own research answer me these questions about that company.
- where are they based?
- do they have other headquarters around the world?
- where do they distribute their products - all over the world or just US or EU or Japan?
- do they own any subsidiary media companies? Other smaller TV or Film production companies or studios?
- any other info you can find - how many people do they employ? How much profit/revenue do they make?

4. Put in the heading 'Independent Company'

Then choose a small independent film company. Work backwards from a little indie film (the indie section of netflix might help you). This can't be a massive multi-national company. Get their logo in under the heading.

5. Using your own research answer me these questions about that company.
- where are they based
- what kind of SIZE are they? How many people work there? How much profit/turnover do they make?

6. Finally SAVE your post, you will be adding to it in coming weeks.
