Creative Media Sector - The Companies

Okay, so you've told me about the different sectors of the media industry, and about products you use from each sector. I'd now like you to tell me about the COMPANIES who make each product you've told me about. Do this in the following way.

1. Go back to your work and go to the part where you've told me about a film you love. You should have already named the company that made it. Put the name of the company as a new heading after what you've told me about the film.

2. Paste in an image of the company logo.

3. Then tell me - who owns it? Is it independent or owned by a bigger company? Is it just part (a 'subsidiary') of a bigger 'parent' company?

4. Give me a little bit of the history of the company. Give me the basics of when they started out and where, and how they've developed. What was the initial purpose of the company? Are they still just involved in the business they started out in?

5. Cn you name other examples of films/merchandise they bring out? What genre(s) do the company tend to focus on?

6. Finally - who are their competitors? What other companies would they consider to be rivals? What other companies bring out similar products or appeal to the same audience?

7. Then repeat the steps for the GAME you wrote about, and the WEBSITE. You should end up with Company details for all 3 of the products you've written about.


WHERE WILL YOU FIND THE INFO?
Wikipedia as a launchpad, not a dead end, is a useful starting point. Also check out the company's own website - does it have an 'About Us' or 'F.A.Q' section? If you get stuck, give us a shout.
